Vacík, Lukáš ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee)
The thesis aims to determine the scope and extent of the European defence industrial sector influence on the process of European defence formation, or more precisely in the field of defence and security cooperation (ESDP/CSDP). The question of the European defence sector's role in shaping the defence and security cooperation in Europe has not been properly explored, thereby it provides an ideal topic of choice for my thesis, The thesis is divided into three main parts: the introduction, the analysis consisting of five sections and finally the conclusion. The thesis analyzes an industrial sector itself, while exploring the process of creation of internal market within the framework of the Roundtable of European Industrialist initiative. It then moves on to discuss the European military industrial complex and it argues for the need to introduce a new term "European Defence Industrialists" in order to improve our understanding of defence cooperation in the EU. As for the thesis theoretical approach, a classical IR theoretical approach in general and classical theoretical take on European integration have proved insufficient. Therefore, the thesis explores the specific environment of European industrial sector with the aid of the liberal economics approaches. In so doing, it establishes that liberal...

Čadková, Markéta ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (advisor) ; Střítecký, Vít (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to find the answers on question how the situation, when the institutionalisation of cooperation among the Member States in the field of armament policy is taking the place, but some of its actor - in the present case Czech Republic - are not respecting the existing rules, is explained by the new institutionalism, one of the middle range theories of European Integration. The defence industries of the Member States of the EU went through deep transformation process in the 1990's in order to be able to meet the government requirements for the military equipment for its armed forces. Suitable military equipment of the European armies is one of the prerequisites for the success of military missions, which take place either within NATO or the European Security and Defence policy. The rise of European cooperation among Member States led to the creation of several organizations, such an as OCCAR or European Defence Agency. The latter is considered by the Member States as an important move on the way towards the creation of European Defence and Equipment Market. Also the role of European Commission has quite changed during last decade. EC is issuing new rules to be obeyed by the Member States, especially in the field of defence procurement. Today the European Commission does not...

Neumannová, Pavla ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor) ; Jiránková, Martina (referee)
The master thesis is devoted to a nontraditional, however, in the todays world to a very current topic, arms industry and its support. The thesis connects the theoretical concept of the strategic trade policy (defined by P. Krugman or J. Brander) to its practical interpretation and application in the defence and security industry. The first chapter explains the strategic trade policy using the Brander Spencer analysis. The topic of the second chapter is strategic industries and this chapter answers the question whether the defence and security industry is a strategic industry or not. The third chapter analyses the possibilities of the support of DSI and compares approaches of different EU member states. The last chapter is devoted to the solution of this problem. The main contribution of this thesis is a new interpretation of the strategic trade policy, analysis of the importance of the defence and security industry and its support and suggestion of practical measures for Czech companies and for the Czech Ministry of Defence.
